FALL 2025 PRIMARY RECRUITMENT

Important Dates & Information

A NOTE FROM OUR VICE PRESIDENTS OF RECRUITMENT

Hello everyone! We’re Paige and Tora, your Vice Presidents of Recruitment External and Internal, and we’re so excited you’re here and joining us for Fall Primary Recruitment at SDSU!

We’ve been working closely with our nine incredible chapters to create a recruitment experience that’s not just meaningful, but real. The truth is, recruitment can bring out all kinds of emotions: excitement, nerves, confusion, and everything in between. And that’s totally okay.

We’ve been in your shoes. We remember the second-guessing, the butterflies, and all the questions. If you're feeling a lot right now, know that you're not alone. Everyone, including the chapter members, feels that way. That just means you care, and that’s a beautiful thing.

To be totally transparent, recruitment looks different for everyone. It’s a chance to reflect on what matters to you: your values, your goals, and the kind of people you want in your corner. While that can feel challenging, it’s also so worth it.

Our biggest advice is to be yourself. We know that’s easier said than done. But really, try not to worry about what other people are thinking. This is your journey and your experience. Trust your gut, stay open, and focus on where you feel most like yourself.

We are proud to say that our Panhellenic community is made up of nine unique chapters, each filled with inspiring women who bring their own stories and passions to the table. There is no one way to be a sorority woman here, and that’s what makes SDSU Panhellenic so special.

Honestly, when we went through recruitment, we weren’t 100% sure of anything. But now, we wouldn’t change a thing. We found more than we  ever expected, and we hope you do too.

We, along with your Recruitment Counselors and the entire Panhellenic team, are here to support you every step of the way. If you need anything, we’ve got you.

We’re rooting for you, and we can’t wait to meet you!

1. PNM Orientation & Open House: Kick off your recruitment experience by meeting your Recruitment Counselor (RC) and fellow Potential New Members (PNMs). This day is all about learning more about the recruitment process, meeting other PNMs, and receiving your PNM materials for upcoming rounds.

2. Welcome Day: You’ll have the chance to meet all the chapters and learn about each chapter’s leadership, values, and sisterhood. This day is designed to help you get familiar with the sororities.

3. Philanthropy Day: On Philanthropy Day, chapters will highlight the charitable causes and community service projects they support. This is your chance to learn about the meaningful work each chapter does.

4. Sisterhood Day: Sisterhood Day focuses on the deeper connections and bonds that chapter members share. You’ll have the opportunity to get to know more about the personal relationships within each chapter and the sense of community they provide.

5. Preference Day: Preference Day is about experiencing the traditions and rituals of each chapter, offering you a glimpse into the deep bonds of sisterhood.

6. Bid Day: Bid Day is the exciting day where chapters have the opportunity to extend bids to new membership classes!

ATTIRE GUIDELINES

Potential New Members do not need to purchase any new or specific clothing in order to participate in the primary recruitment process. There is not a strict dress code on any day, because you are encouraged to show up as fully yourself in the clothes you feel comfortable and confident wearing.

A few helpful tips for every in-person day:

  • Wear comfortable shoes. PNMs may be standing or waiting for long periods of time and are traveling to various locations.

  • PNMs are encouraged to bring a jacket, coat, or sweatshirt. All events take place indoors in air conditioning, but PNMs may be warm (or rained on!) as they move from different buildings.

  • If you're unsure about outfits, your Recruitment Counselor (RC) is a great person to text for ideas or guidance!

ATTIRE INSPIRATION DAY-BY-DAY

PNM Orientation/Open House

Casual, everyday wear (think leggings, shorts, sneakers). You’ll meet your RC, grab materials, and pick up your Philanthropy Round t-shirt. Whatever you’re comfortable walking around campus in.

Sisterhood Day

Smart casual! Think nice dinner or brunch attire— a sundress, jumpsuit, romper, or nice top with pants or a skirt.

Philanthropy Day

Wear your Panhellenic-provided t-shirt (given to you at Open House) paired with bottoms of your choice.
We recommend avoiding ripped or frayed shorts, as well as anything too short -- you may be sitting on the floor in between events, so comfort and coverage are key! This is the most casual of the in-person rounds. â€‹

Please do not cut or alter your shirt. We will not be able to provide a replacement.

Preference Day

This is the dressiest round. A nice dress or polished outfit is perfect. An example would be something you may wear to a graduation ceremony or a daytime wedding.

Bid Day

Keep it casual and comfortable! Most chapters will give you a t-shirt, so come ready to change and celebrate.

FINANCIAL EXPECTATIONS

Each chapter has its own financial structure. To help you understand the costs associated with joining a chapter, you can find an overview of dues, new member fees, and housing costs on our finances tab. Please be aware that while each chapter has its own cost, Panhellenic strives to make membership accessible for all students by providing a handful of scholarships and sharing resources to our community.

WHAT IS A RECRUITMENT COUNSELOR?

Hi, my name is Annelise Timar, and I am the Director of Recruitment Counselors!

Recruitment Counselors (or RCs) assist PNMs in understanding the primary recruitment process, finding chapters that align with their values, and adjusting to the college experience.

This year, CPA will be training 83 Recruitment Counselors—the most SDSU has ever had. I am looking forward to seeing the positive impact that each Recruitment Counselor has on PNMs' Recruitment experience!

We all cannot wait to meet and support you!

Fun fact: I was a Recruitment Counselor during Primary Recruitment in 2024!

LETTERS OF RECCOMENDATION

Do I need letters of recommendation? No, letters of recommendation are not at all required! Panhellenic is very clear that PNMs do not need to seek out letters of recommendation to participate in recruitment, and that requiring letters of recommendation can be a barrier to membership. Panhellenic, the Pierce Greek Life Center, and SDSU do not manage, process, or forward any letters of recommendation. Please do not send them to us!

If someone offers to write a letter of recommendation, or a PNM wants to submit them, they should follow each inter/national organization’s specific process. The Panhellenic website includes links to each sorority’s website, available at www.sdsupanhellenic.com. Students can also Google the chapter inter/national website and “letter of recommendation” to find more information.

What is each chapter’s specific policy about letters of recommendation? How do I submit them?
